  73. <p>The Boost web site provides free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries.
  74. The emphasis is on libraries which work well with the C++ Standard Library.
  75. The libraries are intended to be widely useful, and are
  76. in regular use by thousands of programmers across a
  77. broad spectrum of applications.</p>
  78. <p>A further
  79. goal is to establish "existing practice" and provide reference implementations
  80. so that Boost libraries are suitable for eventual standardization.
  81. Ten
  82. Boost libraries will be included in the <a href="http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/">
  83. C++ Standards Committee</a>'s upcoming <a href="http://open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/library_technical_report.html">
  84. C++ Standard Library Technical Report</a> as a
  85. step toward becoming part of a future C++ Standard.</p>
  86. <p>Although Boost was begun by members of the C++ Standards Committee Library
  87. Working Group, participation has expanded to include thousands of
  88. programmers from the C++ community at large.</p>

  90. <p>If you are interested in participating in Boost, please join

  92. are highly technical, and list members are encouraged to participate in formal

  137. have been changed to remove the "<code>.</code>" (dot) character and to fix some
  138. other naming inconsistencies. For example, <code>vc7.1</code> toolset was renamed
