  72. <p>The Boost web site provides free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries.
  73. The emphasis is on libraries which work well with the C++ Standard Library.
  74. The libraries are intended to be widely useful, and are
  75. in regular use by thousands of programmers across a
  76. broad spectrum of applications.</p>
  77. <p>a further
  78. goal is to establish "existing practice" and provide reference implementations
  79. so that Boost libraries are suitable for eventual standardization.
  80. Ten
  81. Boost libraries will be included in the <a href="http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/">
  82. C++ Standards Committee</a>'s upcoming <a href="http://open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/library_technical_report.html">
  83. C++ Standard Library Technical Report</a> as a
  84. step toward becoming part of a future C++ Standard.</p>
  85. <p>Although Boost was begun by members of the C++ Standards Committee Library
  86. Working Group, participation has expanded to include thousands of
  87. programmers from the C++ community at large.</p>

  143. have been changed to remove the "<code>.</code>" (dot) character and to fix some
  144. other naming inconsistencies. For example, <code>vc7.1</code> toolset was renamed
