  73. <p>The Boost web site provides free
  74. peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries. The
  75. emphasis is on libraries which work well with
  76. the C++ Standard Library. One goal is to
  77. establish &quot;existing practice&quot; and provide
  78. reference implementations so that the Boost
  79. libraries are suitable for eventual
  80. standardization. Several Boost libraries will be
  81. included in the <a href="http://anubis.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc22/wg21/">
  82. C++ Standards Committee</a>'s upcoming
  83. <a href="http://std.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/library_technical_report.html">C++ Standard Library Technical
  84. Report</a>.</p>
  85. <p>Although Boost was begun by members of the C++ Standards Committee Library
  86. Working Group, membership has expanded to include nearly two thousand
  87. programmers from the C++ community at large.</p>
  88. <h2><a name="Membership">Membership</a></h2>
  89. <p>If you are interested in becoming a member of Boost, please do so by joining our
  90. main developers mailing list. Discussions include both technical and
  91. site-related issues, and members are encouraged to participate in formal
  92. reviews of proposed libraries. There is also a users mailing list.</p>
  93. <p>Both the main Boost developers list and the users list are also accessible as <a href="more/mailing_lists.htm">
