  20. .. Admonition:: What is BoostCon?
  21. This inaugural Boost conference promises to be the main
  22. face-to-face venue for all things Boost, from using libraries to
  23. writing them, from evangelizing Boost to deployment within your
  24. organization, from infrastructure and process to vision and
  25. mission, and from TR1 to TR2. Given the range and interests of the
  26. participants, the event is going to be intense and in-depth.

  28. Tracks
  29. ======
  30. Recognizing the breadth of the community, we are offering two
  31. primary tracks: the first three days will be focused mostly on the
  32. practical interests of Boost and TR1 end-users, and the last three
  33. will be directed more towards hard-core Boost developers, with one
  34. overlap day at midweek. Thus, the conference fosters interaction
  35. both within *and* across these tracks, with an emphasis on service
  36. to our user base.
  37. In the spirit of Boost, many sessions will be participatory and/or
  38. collaborative in nature. Sessions will run in the morning and
  39. evening, leaving a midday break of several hours so that attendees
  40. can get out and enjoy the town and its surroundings, or just to
  41. have time to work together in small, informal groups.
  42. Propose a Session
  43. =================
  44. See the BoostCon `Call for Sessions`_ for details about how to submit a sesion proposal.

  46. Venue
  47. =====
  48. The main venue for this conference will be the `Aspen Center for
  49. Physics`__ in Aspen, Colorado. The town of Aspen is known for its
  50. world-class cuisine and its envigorating, natural setting. As
  51. generations of scientists can attest, the Center's beautiful
  52. location and its low-key atmosphere create a unique and lively
  53. environment for thought, education, and collaboration.

  55. Hotel
  56. =====
  57. The main conference hotel will be the `Aspen Meadows Resort`__.
  58. Located within walking distance of the Physics Center, the Meadows
  59. provides 90 rooms, a restaurant, and overflow conference facilities
  60. should the event expand.

  62. Conference Size
  63. ===============
  64. Much more than having a great number of attendees, it's important
  65. that this first BoostCon be a success, so we're starting small.
  66. Registration will initially be limited to just 100 places, except
  67. that we'll accomodate 200 participants on Wednesday, when the two
  68. main tracks overlap. Contingency plans are in place that *may* allow
  69. us to expand registration should demand prove overwhelming, but
  70. when registration opens we recommend securing your place early, in
  71. case that isn't possible.
  72. Registration
  73. ============
  74. Official Registration is not yet open, but an `informal attendee
  75. list`__ for those likely to attend has been set up on the Boost
  76. Wiki. The conference organizers would very much appreciate it if
  77. you could add an entry to this list if you think you'll be there,
  78. to help us with planning.

  84. =========
  85. Please raise any other questions about—or ideas for—the conference
  86. on the `Boost mailing lists`__.
